Nigeria Data Protection Regulation
Last updated: 31 August 2026
Data we collect
We collect personal information including your name, BVN or NIN, email, phone number, and address to provide insurance services and comply with NAICOM regulations. We also collect a selfie for the liveness check that confirms your identity.
How we use your data
Your data is used to underwrite policies, process claims, prevent fraud, and improve our platform. We use the Sentinel risk profile to personalise your premium quotes.
Data sharing
We share data with licensed insurers strictly for policy underwriting and claims processing, and with regulators where legally required. We do not sell your data to third parties.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your location, contacts, calendar or files. We use no advertising identifier and no third-party analytics or tracking service.
Your rights
Under the NDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You may also withdraw consent at any time. See how to delete your account, or contact us at support@sorplos.com.
Data retention
Policy and claims records are kept for a minimum of six years as NAICOM requires. Where you close your account, those records are retained but detached from you — they no longer identify anyone.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit. Names and addresses are encrypted at rest, and identity numbers are stored as hashes rather than in full. Card numbers are never accepted or stored — only the brand, last four digits and expiry, for display.
